Melanie Bainbridge - Script and Songwriter
Melanie Bainbridge is a classically trained singer, lyricist and composer turned contemporary songwriter, with over 20 years of experience in the arts, writing, and editing. She has delved into the full range of multi-arts practice, including songwriting, theatre-making, poetry, short-story and novel writing, exhibition curation, and production. As a vocalist and songwriter for Mama Red & the Dark Blues, Melanie emphasizes the power of lyrical prose and universal narratives and has developed two full albums for the ensemble in collaboration with some of Perth’s most talented musicians. Her notable works include the albums "The Wages of Sin" and "Long Way to Redemption," and she has written and produced theatre works “A Saucy Little Secret," and Harry’s Shiraz Cabaret, showcased at various festivals across Australia. Other credits include the scripts for "Schism" and "Silo," performed at La Mama Theatre, and Perth Fringe. Melanie co-founded and directs The Pack Music Co-operative, a social enterprise aimed at improving music streaming for artists, and hasrcently completed her debut novel

Harry Deluxe - Co-Director / Performer
Harry Deluxe is a versatile singer, actor, theatre-maker, and professional MC, leading two Perth bands, including Mama Red & the Dark Blues. Her acting repertoire features notable productions like "A Saucy Little Secret," "Into the Woods," "Jesus Christ Superstar," and "We Will Rock You." Harry co-founded The Pack Music Co-operative, an innovative music streaming service for local musicians. She also co-managed HMS Pop-Up Productions, creating multi-arts events and activations across Perth and interstate. Her musical highlights have included performing as a part of a 30 strong choir for Split Enz “Enso” tour, recording with various original bands as a singer and musician, performing in professional musical theatre productions, Perth Festival, many national festivals and on commercial television. She has held long residencies at the Crown Casino (previously Burswood Casino), the Mustang Bar, The Cabin Small Bar and the Ellington Jazz Club. Harry has supported acts such as James Morrison and Joe Camilleri.

Lorna Mackie - Advisor / Dramaturg
Lorna Mackie is a multi-award-winning theatre creator, producer, and director with 20 years of experience. She has been involved in theatre since her mid-teens, acting in both the UK and Australia. Her acting credits include "The Geometry of Love," "Meals Warmed Up," and "Intermission Theatre." She has designed costumes for "Some Enchanted Evening," "Get Smart," and "The Admirable Crichton," and stage-managed "Trainspotting." Her directing credits include "Reefer Madness, the Musical!" (Finley Award nominations), "Funny Business" (Finley Award for Best Musical Production), "Love is a Noun," "Avenue Q," "The Great American Trailer Park Musical," "Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens," "Bad Girls," "First Date the Musical" (FRINGEWORLD 2018 nominee), and "ATOMIC the new Rock Musical." In 2015, she founded Grey Lantern Productions, a co-operative theatre group dedicated to bringing contemporary musicals to WA, focusing on intimate, black box pop-up productions. She is a passionate supporter of new works and writing.

Craig Wallace-Gibb - Composer

Gillian Catlow - First Violinist
Gillian studied violin at the Sydney Conservatorium and was a founding member of the Australian Chamber Orchestra. In 1977, she travelled to Europe to further her studies in Salzburg and Munich. During her time in Europe, she played with the Salzburg Camerata, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, the James Last Band, Hamburg Camerata, and various other chamber ensembles. In 1997, Gillian moved to Perth, where she worked as a freelance violinist and teacher. She founded the Kaleidoscope Ensemble in 2003 and Four on Six in 2010.

Jamie Mercanti - Performer
Michael James (Jamie) Mercanti, known as Slim Jim, has had a distinguished career in the Western Australian entertainment industry for over 40 years. He studied Journalism and Theatre Arts at the Western Australian Institute of Technology, performing in and producing over 40 plays and musicals. Post-1984, Jamie focused on acting, with notable roles in "South Pacific," "Annie," and "Godspell." In 1986, he formed Slim Jim & the FATTS/PHATTS Band, performing over 7500 shows in WA. The band received multiple nominations at the 1988 Western Australian Rock Music Industry Awards. Recently, Jamie returned to musical theatre, with roles in "Grease," "Beauty and the Beast," and "Jesus Christ Superstar." He has supported Telethon since 1986 and performed on Basil’s Footy Show from 1999-2001. Jamie holds a Diploma in Music Industry from Abmusic.

Kylana McIntosh - Performer
Kylana McIntosh debuted in "Slay The Date" (UWA Pantomime Society) in 2018 after six years of classical and musical theatre vocal training. She helped conceptualize "Murder! at the Circus," which premiered in May 2019. With a background in undergraduate law, Kylana deepened her engagement in musical theatre through the Midnite Youth Theatre Company. She is operations manager, tenor/baritone singer, and show producer for Up Till Now, and in 2022, became the first female chair of BHA Western Region. Kylana manages BHA's social media, markets events across Australia, including National BHA Festivals, and oversees the BHA brand nationally and internationally. She also manages the day-to-day operations of The Baden Street Singers, focusing on events and opportunities.

Therese Cruise - Performer
Therese Cruise has been passionate about musicals from a young age, becoming seriously engaged with the dramatic arts in high school. She pursued this passion academically, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Theatre in 2011. Therese has performed in notable productions such as "Kinky Boots" at the Regal Theatre, "Disenchanted," "Atomic," and "Bad Girls" with Grey Lantern Theatre. She is a singer trained in jazz, musical theatre, and contemporary vocals since age 12. Currently, she performs with the band Mama Red and the Dark Blues, participates in the Perth International Burlesque Festival, and works with Blak Yak Theatre, Grey Lantern Productions, and as a freelance cabaret singer. Therese's acting credits include lead roles such as Georgia in "Curtains" and Beatrice in "Much Ado About Nothing." She has also performed with GRADS, Rag n Bone Theatre Company, and at the Perth Fringe Festival.

Dan Millgate - Performer
Dan is a national and international award-winning performer with over 30 years of experience in singing and performing. Dan manages national educational campaigns to increase music awareness and performance skills and is a certified Performance Category Judge, having judged at seven International Barbershop Contests. A four-time National and dual Pan-Pacific Champion barbershop quartet singer, he has represented Australia at International Contests. Dan was President and Vocal Coach of BHA Gold Medallist Chorus, Vocal Evolution, and coaches barbershop choruses and quartets in Australia and New Zealand. Currently, as National President of Barbershop Harmony Australia, he promotes music education and the benefits of singing. He is a senior member of the World Harmony Council, representing Australia's interests and leading the BHA National Council.

Al James is a seasoned Perth musician, singer, and guitarist with a career spanning over three decades. He has collaborated with a diverse range of artists, including The Vibrolators, Ivan Zar, Steve Tallis, and international talents like Lynwood Slim and Pat Peppin. Al's extensive performance history includes tours on the East Coast at renowned festivals such as Woodford Folk Festival, Narooma Blues Festival, Gympie Muster, Australian Blues Music Festival, and Melbourne Fringe Festival. In Western Australia, he has graced stages at Bridgetown Blues, Wignall’s Vintage Music Festival, Fairbridge Festival, and Perth Fringe Festival, along with numerous local community events. Al is also a co-writer for Mama Red & the Dark Blues' albums "The Wages of Sin" and "Long Way to Redemption."

Sanshi - Didgeridoo / Collaborator
Yoshitaka Saegusa (Sanshi) is a Japanese contemporary didgeridoo player living in Fremantle, Western Australia. His passion took him to Arnhem land, the home of didgeridoo, where he worked with didgeridoo master Djalu Gurruwiwi and his family. He performs as a solo artist, collaboration artist, studio musician and in the trio “Breath”. Sanshi’s didgeridoo performance techniques, variety of percussive rhythms and diverse range of sounds are ground breaking. CDs include: “Chikyu” (meaning Earth); “Bansuri”; “Ancestral Spiral” and other collaboration albums have also been released. He runs “Didgeridoo Breath” in Fremantle, and is a highly respected teacher of didgeridoo globally, teaching online on the Didgeridoo Dojo.
